Helvatia

My husband and I decided to run a half marathon
The HELVATIA HALF MARATHON.

Crazy KIDS..... what were we thinking!

The night before the race.....
we went to the place where it all started.

The Old Spaghetti Factory.

We met there many years ago while we were in High School and fell MADLY in LOVE.

He swept me off my feet and well....the rest is history

♥♥♥

We had some freebie coupons in our bags so we put them to good use and had ourselves
some GOOD food.

I absolutely ADORE the spumoni ice cream there.
Sigh....I wish it was in store.

Anyone know where a good spumoni iccream is?

The next morning bright and early we headed over to the Hillsboro stadium where we would start the race.
The course was breathtaking, dreamy and very relaxing minus a few hills here and there ;-).

I had had the flu and a sinus infection during the week, my fever only braking the day before the race so
I was still quite weak when I was running the race but I am happy I completed it and was able to have a running date with my wonderful stud of a husband.

We suck and forgot the camera the day of the race so our daughter took a picture after the race.

The race t-shirts were a lot of fun this year!

Our finishers medals!

Pre-K Graduation

                                                                          On May 28th.....

My baby boy graduated from pre-K this year!

Pre-K class 2010

High School graduates in 2023

* Lets hope the time goes by  REALLY slowly *

Taylor recieving his diploma

Taylor and his FABULOUS Pre-K teacher Mrs. D.

Taylor and the assistant teacher Mrs.H.
She has a wonderful voice and records Christian Music for children and adults.
She retired this year to focus on her music.
She will be very missed!

Taylor baby and I

Taylor had a growing year this emotionally, physically and intellectually. Since his birthday is at the very end of May and two 1/2 weeks from the end of school we held him back to give him one more year of growth before he entered  elementary school. It was well worth it and with the great teacher he had he will do wonderful next year in Kindergarten. Thank you so much Mrs. D and Mrs. H. You touched my sons life and gave him the step he needed to have a fun and successful year in Kindergarten.

Now onto bigger and better adventures....
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

In the end though the real question is.....

"How much do you think I am going to cry when I leave Taylor the first day of school?"

We have a few more months until September rolls around ;-)

Neighbors, Smores and Waterfalls

All those three are related I can assure you. They are related because we had the chance 9 months ago to reserve a cabin at Silver Creek Falls with them. I had never been cabin camping before, only tent camping but I will say this although it is pricier and harder to reserve a cabin or yurt it is WORTH it. There was NO obnoxious teenagers drinking behind us, plenty of privacy, warmth and fun. I may have converted ;-). I may try to find a yurt for later in the summer along the coast but well see. Those go VERY quickly when being reserved.

We arrived on Friday to start out to exploring the trails and checking out our race for the next day, missing the monster hill in all of our searching (see previous post).  That night we made sloppy Joe's, played games and might I say the girls KICKED the men's butts in games. Always a pleasure.....muh ha ha!

The kids in front of an old bridge in the park

The next morning we raced and were muddy and survived the swimming like puddles, monster hill and mud. It sounds hard but it was exhilarating.
(see previous post for pictures)

That afternoon we went hiking down to see the falls around the 4 miles loop, although one of us thinks we only did three...you know who you are :). The first stop was the large falls.  If you live in Oregon you know what I am talking about when I say we have had a WET spring. Due to all that rainfall the falls were full of life. The spray behind the falls drenched us all, making the kids giggle out of delight and the adults run for cover. In all my years of hiking there I have never seen it so full. Absolutely breathtaking and beautiful all in one picturesque moment.

Look at how full the falls were that day

Taylor and his mama about to go behind the falls to get drenched!

You can see some of the back spray in the picture

All of the brood.

Chloe in front of the lower falls.
I can not believe it but she hiked pretty much the whole thing.

It was a great weekend with gods given beauty and friends.

Get out there and camp with your family this summer whether it be in a cabin or your backyard....

You will love it and so will they!
