Footprints

Life brings us all surprises, good and bad. You take the good with the bad because that is life. Life is what teaches us the good from the bad. Without those low points we experiemce we would not recognize the high points we achieve in our lives. My husband and I have been through much personally and as a family in the past few years, climbing each mountain that was thrown in front of us, seeing the success as we looked down at our hard work.

We were not alone in those climbs. The lord and our Savior Jesus Christ were also there. As the poem "footprints" so eloquently states

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you."

I feel like with all that is going on with my husbands job, this is yet another mountain we have to climb and as we travel this one I know when times get tough, I will look back and only see one set of footprints and I will know that is when he carried me.
