The real meaning

I am proud to be an American and thankful for the thousands of men and women that serve our country, putting their lives, families and dreams on hold while they serve.

May you all have a fantastic Memorial weekend and remember the real reason for this weekend.

God Bless America

Wisdom

I wanted to share one of my favorite scriptures today......

James 1: 5-6

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

What do you do on a rainy afternoon?

You pull out some limes

2 cans of sweetened condensed milk

and a few other staples

to make what I call ....Key Lime Paradise

Crust:

3/4 cup Butter
1/3 cup Sugar
1 1/2 cup flour

Blend these three together and press into tart or pie pan
Bake at 350 for 10-12 mins
* attention: you will only use 2/3 of the crust*

Now for the Tart part ( A.K.A the goods)

6 egg yolks
2 cans of sweetened condensed milk
2tsp of grated lime peel
1/2 to 1 cup lime juice (or key lime juice)

Mix egg yolks lightly
Add the SCM ever so slowly until its all combined and milky.
Do the same with the lime juice and finish off with the grated lime.

Pour into baked crust and bake at 350 for 20 mins

Refrigerate this puppy for at least 2 hours and then EAT

I personally like to get all fancy and finish the edges with some whip cream!

6

6 years ago this morning at 1:35 am I gave birth to a beautiful brown eyed baby boy.

My labor was intense and hard without any pain medication but empowering.

My husband and I named him: Taylor Lance Nye

He came into this world with a loud set of lungs and feisty appetite not only for food but for life.

As a baby Taylor would smile from ear to ear, making your heart melt into a million peices.

As a baby Taylor would love to sit under the trees and watch the leaves go back and forth, trying ever so hard to figure the patterns out.

As a baby Taylor was his mama's cuddle bug

As a toddler Taylor climbed onto my fridge at 18 months old to get the easter egg candy

As a toddler Taylor fell in LOVE with trucks, planes and trains

As a toddler Taylor loved little einsteins

Now Taylor is 6.

He does not climb onto my fridge anymore but uses a stool instead...sigh...=-)

He now loves to play with his trucks, planes and trains (and moms spoons)  in the dirt

Instead of little einsteins he loves the movie cars, especially Mater

He is still is his mama's cuddlebug

But most of all he is mine ..... whether he is 6 or 60.

I love you Taylor baby.

Happy Birthday son.

Jumping in puddles and dancing away.

We were so wet the boot even had a puddle in it!

Try it sometime.

BLINDING

Last week when it was ACTUALLY warm outside

We dashed outside, donned our swimsuits, towels and played in the sprinkler

It was then brought to my attention by my son, Taylor ever so bluntly.....

*yes I know another baseball pic but does he not look so CUTE with all of his catcher's gear on??*

Ok....back to the story...

He looks as me while we play and exclaims and remember I am in my swimsuit....

"Mom, your WHITE."

Ahhh, children. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. =-)

Sick

Poor Taylor baby was sick today.  After picking him from school he headed straight to my bed, snuggled into his fathers pillow and was out in 1 2  3. "Poor guy" I thought. A few minutes later I went to check on him and lo and behold he was BURNING to the touch. Needless to say plans changed and we spend a quiet afternoon  at home. Life slowed down and I just held my little boy all afternoon. It was nice and sad at the same time. He is growing up so quickly I think to myself where did my little boy go who would climb out of his crib just to give his mama a big hug. He is there. He always will be. :)

I love you brown eyed boy
I hope you get better soon

Didn't you know?

I look good in a red cape ;-)

Just because

I thought this picture was SUPER cute and wanted to share it.

I can do that you know...I'm their mama =-)

Why I am a mother

Diana rose - Your warm smile, charm and passion for life inspire me.

Taylor lance - Your desire to serve, play hard, figure life out makes me think.

Chloe nicole - Your vigor, pixie like play and stubbornness make me laugh.

I love you three so much.

In "Love you forever" by Robert Munsch  the mother sings to her little boy:

"I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living, My baby you'll be."

Thank you so much for letting me be your mama

I hope you had a fabulous mothers day like I did.

Roses, balloons, breakfast in bed, dinner...it was fabulous!

Bucket List

Have you ever seen the movie "The bucket List"?  I haven't personally but I like the concept of a bucket list, a list that represents what you want to accomplish in your life. What I find appealing about them is that no two bucket lists will ever be the same. We're all different with our own likes, dislikes, quirks and temperaments. Our back grounds, childhoods, families help create and shape who we are and what we want to achieve. When I was 16 and more disciplined at writing in my journal every night, I sat and thought to myself, what do I want to achieve in my life? What values do I want to represent? Will I be bold and strong enough to endure life's trials to not be side tracked?

Hard questions for a 16 year old.

*picture of me when I was 16 - I was the one in the "shortalls"*

When looking for the answers it was simple to answer because of my relationship with God and my Savior. I knew his source of strength and love would be there every step of the way, even when I would not want to go any further. President Monson said "Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family. One day each of us will run out of tomorrows."

Let me share a few of my goals that I wrote on my "Bucket List" when I was 16:

I want to be sealed in the Temple
I want to have an eternal family ( I wrote 6 kids with a smiley face....?!?!?!?!)
I want to be the best mother who teaches her children what they need to know to return to their heavenly father again.
I want to bungee jump (um, yeah...NO. Not happening, never will!)
I want to learn how to ride a motorcycle when I am 90 (interesting)
I want to have my own business
I want to read the bible.
I want to snorkel in Hawaii
I want to stand on the great wall of china
I want to run a marathon for a purpose
I want to go to Europe
I want to serve the youth of our church
I want to be an example to others
I want to be a teacher (yeah that one changed)
I want to see my grandfather someday and give him a big hug ( I still miss him dearly ).
I want to be Young women's or RS president
I want to learn how to ski without killing myself (lol...my friend Brianne can tell you how bad I am at it!)
I want to snowmobile
I want to meet my dads family.

I will end it there as my list was 50 items long and some are very personal to me. I cherish this list. Today it still makes me pause and think "Am I where I need to be?" "Am I the person, who I thought or want to be?"
I challenge you to make a "bucket list." It is fun to see the dreams and ambitions that are there, waiting to be explored! I have even added to mine over the years.

Find joy on the journey, in the small and big successes of life!

So today I ask....what's on your bucket list? =-)

My baby is four....

My baby girl is four now. On April 19th, 2006 Chloe Nicole came into this world 3 1/2 weeks early at 7pds 11 oz, 19 in long.  Keith was 5 weeks from graduation and we were living in our campus town home we called little Utah because of how many church members lived in our complex.  Diana had just turned 5 and Taylor was not yet 2.  It was BUSY with three under 5 but a beautiful, uncomplicated time in our lives. I remember the way you smelled fresh from heaven. I remember the way your little spirit filled the entire room. I remember the way your father and I held you in awe of your beauty. You were so calm and relaxed, never crying but twice. Your birth was an amazing, spiritual experience for me.

You bring  joy, beauty, and pizazz into our lives everyday.

We love you Chloe and are so THANKFUL that heavenly father blessed us that day in April.

Take me out to the softball game....

So like I said Taylor is doing T-ball.
Chloe is dancing away in ballet.

and Diana is trying something new.

She is donning a "pink" mitt, baseball pants and a visor versus soccer cleats this spring.
For the past 4 years she has done soccer
She decided to try her hand at softball.

I am proud of her. Its hard for her to try something new. She is my soft spoken, mild mannered child who would read books for HOURS on end if I let her. But like any good mama, I know fresh air is good for the lungs...well its just plain'ol good to get out to stretch the muscles god gave you!

Take a peek at her in uniform at her first game!

I 'm proud of you baby Girl!

Keep up the good work...Your mom and Dad are proud of all your hard work.

Tu-Tu's and Tights

Sooooo Taylor wanted to do T-ball.....
Then Chloe wanted to do Ballet....
and well...we'll get to Diana in another post.

To get her started I went down to our local Parks and rec and signed her up for a beginner Ballet Class,
pulled out a hand me down Tu-Tu from Diana, tights but when we went to try on Diana's Ballet Slippers....they did not fit, so she got new ones. As the third child you savor in these moments =-).

Yeah the older two wanted in on the picture action before we left

Chloe was SO small compared to the rest of the girls. I think its those petite asian genes.

Dancing away

She loved every minute of the twirls, skips and dancing

I love seeing the joy on her face!

♥ It's one of lifes gifts ♥

Take me out to the t-ball game....

My son DESPERATLY wanted to play T-ball.....
more like begged his mama to play!

So his Dad and I signed him up!

His dad ended up coaching....THANK YOU hunny!

Take a peek at his first game....
I think he is quite the stud...but I am bias and all being his mama ♥

At third base, ready to go.....That helmet is HUGE on him!

He had just hit his first ball!
and
yes....I realize the picture is sideways =-)
Crouching down

His teamates

Is he not the CUTEST T-ball player!!!
